Josef Enzensberger (21 August 1914 – 6 September 1975) was a highly decorated Oberfeldwebel in the Luftwaffe during World War II and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. ==Awards and decorations== * Aviator badge * Front Flying Clasp of the Luftwaffe * Ehrenpokal der Luftwaffe (8 May 1944) * Iron Cross (1939) * * 2nd Class * * 1st Class * German Cross in Gold (13 June 1944) * Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 28 February 1945 as ''Oberfeldwebel'' and pilot in the 1./Schlachtgeschwader 10〔Fellgiebel 2000, p. 146.〕 * Russian Front Medal (Schlachtgeschwader 10 was formed in 1943 and served exclusively on the Russian Front) * German-Italian Africa Medal (he was wounded in Africa) * Luftwaffe 4 years Service Medal (his first awards were in 1939 and his last was 1945). He also may have served prior to the war, but would have at least received the four year medal. * Wound Badge (at least the black badge for wounds received when shot down in North Africa - given that he served the entire war, he was very likely wounded more than once and had earned the silver or gold wound badge)〔Weal, John. 2003.
